All thoughts inspired by this work are the property of the artist is part of The Property of The Artist series. In the series I claim copyright over physical and intangible digital assets as well as the ‘thoughts inspired by’ the original work or art.
I purchased the domain name www.propertyoftheartist.com and embedded a one-sided copyright disclaimer inside a HTML (web-programming language) wrapper.
By embedding the terms in a tiny font inside an a html wrapper I made them deliberately intelligible, parodying the fine print and complex legalise used in online contracts and terms & conditions. Contracts which no lay person can reasonably understand but bind them to one-sided data capture and sharing terms to circumnavigate privacy laws. Picturesque holiday scenes are used to draw the viewers attention away from the fine print and the non-reciprocal transaction that is taking place in the interaction.
